A new face now heads the Alumni Affairs Office, Miss Riche Batiancila, a fresh and dynamic individual who intends to energize the university's alumni linkages. As SWU celebrates its 60 years as an institution of academic excellence , the new director plans to actively campaign for increased alumni involvement in current school programs. A person of exceptional determination and flexibility, Batiancila has set her sights on loftier goals for her office, that of providing more opportunities for local alumni and greater interactions among those abroad.
Guided by her motto "Keep working with a good heart, for you are worth not for what you have, not even for who you are, but for what others have become because of you," Batiancila's greatest challenge so far will be the renewal of ties Southwestern University's alumni here and abroad and to initiate communication with them.
A pharmacist and a graduate of the degree Bachelor of Laws in Southwestern University. She served as faculty member of SWU's College of Pharmacy for almost 5 years. Presently, the Alumni Office is organizing a complete database of the alumni. The homecoming next year is also an opportunity for her to gather feedback from the alumni and disseminate what Southwestern University can offer them.
Recognizing the passivity of the alumni for quite some time, the Alumni Affairs Office will be launching activities that will actively involve alumni here and abroad. Projects in the offering include formulation of a system for delivering the latest news and developments. The new director also emphasized the importance of projects that are directly beneficial to them, such as assisting them in their search for employment. Plans are also under way to create a forum for comments and suggestions to be aired out.
Under Batiancila's leadership, the Alumni Affairs Office will surely become a busy office that will constantly organize projects and opportunities for the alumni and foster important and continuous interaction between them.
