It deals with the nature and characteristics of research and its scientific methodology to solve problems and enlighten the graduate students the systematic endeavor starting from the problem formulation through writing and presenting a research.

This course is intended to create a foundation of knowledge and skill in musicianship as demonstrated in three areas of mastery: written theory (analysis and composition), aural skills and keyboard skills.

COURSE TITLE: APPLIED MUSIC A (WIND INSTRUMENT)
COURSE CREDIT: 3 UNITS
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course deals with applied lessons consisting of general concepts of musicianship such as musical analysis, tonal development, phrasing, intonation, and technical development including all forms of scales, overtone control and altissimo development, as well as basic jazz, transcribed, original, and contemporary literature of the wind instrument. Attention will also be given to a historical view of the instrument’s development and its place in musical society as well as some general theoretical principles as they apply to the instrument and its performance.

COURSE TITLE: APPLIED MUSIC B (STRING INSTRUMENT)

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course explores the role of music in the expression of life and functionality of music education. Students learn to identify and describe various musical styles and genres in music. Traditional and popular music are examined within their cultural and historical contexts. A significant part of the course involves an original research or creative project on current strategies in music education.

COURSE TITLE: VOCAL TECHNIQUE AND CHORAL ENSEMBLE AND WORKS
COURSE CREDIT: 3 UNITS
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This is a course study for students having already completed and or shown to excel in the techniques taught in Choral Arts. Advancement into higher levels of notation and rhythm exercises, chromatic, natural minor, harmonic minor, and melodic minor scares and Curwen hand signs will be introduced. This course will offer ensemble singing, solo opportunities, small ensemble singing, sight-reading and theory studies.
Students will be assessed in different vocal techniques according to the Standards of Music Education.
