The Alternative Learning Scheme (ALS)
Southwestern University Graduate School offers busy professionals efficient, effective and the most convenient mode of earning a graduate degree.
Effective this second semester SWU implements its Alternative Learning Scheme (ALS). This new brainchild of SWU Graduate School is in response to various learning needs of professionals. Its mandate is to provide varied opportunities to individuals aspiring for graduate education and to improve competence and productivity but unable to take advantage of traditional modes of education.
Distant and Business Professionals, Homebound Individuals, Non-Native Language Speakers are qualified to enroll in any of our recognized masters degree programs under the Alternative Learning Scheme.
ALS Objectives

Offer parallel graduate degree programs through alternative learning scheme that are responsive to the growing needs of professionals and the challenging demands of the global community;

Sustain professional growth and promote lifelong learning while pursuing their careers or managing their businesses;

Develop and adapt communication systems appropriate to distance learners anytime and anywhere;

Provide a strong sense of independent workmanship by maximizing prepared learning materials and the appropriate use of information and communication technologies.

5. FLEXIBLE TIME – students will simply follow a suitable schedule prepared by ALS facilitators or submit requirements and take exams in their most convenient time and pace.
6. AVAILABILITY – documents, forms, grades, exam results, syllabi, lecture materials are readily available via postal mail, email, or downloads.
7. INDEPENDENCE – students will be trained to do a guided independent works to become self-sufficient and life long learners.
